Aquam volunteers help provide water and shelter in Nicaragua

Aug 15, 2016

A team of volunteers from Florida-based Specialized Plumbing Technologies (SPT), part of the Aquam group, have spent four weeks in Nicaragua installing a water filtration system and constructing homes. The eight-strong SPT team helped build five brick houses, an outdoor kitchen and two outhouses for a 25-person community.

Clean, safe water was a priority for the project and Aquam Corporation funded a water filtration system that the SPT team helped install and connect to the community well. Water will be delivered through five taps connected to a 208-litre barrel.

“Having the opportunity to give back to a community in need is a rewarding experience,” said Justin Mizell, Executive Vice President, Aquam Corporation. “It challenges our company to work as a team to provide others with life necessities.”

The project was organized by US non-profit organisation Waves of Love.
